Yayi Aide-Led Organisation Empowers 120 Yewa North Residents

The Assurance Grassroots Organisation, a non-governmental organisation headed by Hon. Yinka Alade, Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi), representing Ogun West Senatorial District, has empowered 120 residents of Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State with vocational equipment and safety materials to cushion the effects of prevailing economic challenges and improve their livelihoods.

The empowerment programme featured the distribution of 10 sewing machines, 60 motorcycle helmets and 50 knapsack sprayers to support vocational activities, promote road safety and boost agricultural productivity among beneficiaries.

Speaking at the event, Alade said the initiative was designed to complement government efforts at the federal and state levels, as well as developmental interventions in Ogun West Senatorial District.

He explained that the programme was inspired by the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the ISEYA development agenda of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and the developmental initiatives of Senator Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

According to him, empowering residents at the grassroots level remains a practical approach to improving livelihoods, promoting self-reliance and fostering sustainable community development.

He added that the organisation would continue to support initiatives capable of providing relief to residents and creating opportunities for economic advancement.

Some political leaders and stakeholders at the event, including the Ogun State APC Ex-Officio member, Apagun Wahab Elegbede; the APC Ayetoro Zone Chairman, Alhaji Ganiyu Tijani; and the Consultant to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Hon. Oyede Oke, commended the organisation for the initiative.

In their separate remarks, the stakeholders described the empowerment programme as a commendable intervention that complemented government efforts to improve the welfare of the people.

They emphasised the importance of grassroots-oriented initiatives that provide practical support for small businesses, agricultural activities and other productive ventures, noting that such interventions could help beneficiaries strengthen their sources of livelihood.

The beneficiaries also expressed appreciation to the organisation, describing the gesture as timely and beneficial.

One of the beneficiaries, Abdullahi Omobolanle, thanked the organisers for extending support to residents at the grassroots, expressing optimism that the items would assist beneficiaries in their respective occupations.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Teachers (NUT), Yewa North Chapter, Comrade Abiodun Adeniji, and Mr Wole Olaleye commended the initiative in their separate remarks and prayed for the continued success of the organisation and its leadership.

They also expressed support for development initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of residents and strengthening economic opportunities in the area.

The highlight of the programme was the presentation of 10 sewing machines, 60 motorcycle helmets and 50 knapsack sprayers to the beneficiaries.

The sewing machines are expected to support tailoring and other vocational activities, while the motorcycle helmets will promote safety among riders. The knapsack sprayers are intended to assist beneficiaries engaged in agricultural activities.

The programme also featured a sensitisation exercise on the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), during which eligible voters were encouraged to visit designated Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices to collect their cards and prepare for participation in future elections.

The organisers stressed the importance of civic participation and urged eligible residents to take advantage of the PVC collection exercise.

The initiative highlights the role of non-governmental organisations and community-based groups in complementing public-sector interventions through grassroots empowerment, vocational support and community engagement.
