The Arewa Community in Ogun state has declared its support for the governorship aspiration of Senator Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, pledging to mobilise massive support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
The endorsement was made during a consultative visit to the senator's constituency office in Ilaro on Tuesday. The delegation was led by the Director General of Southwest Arewa Community, Alhaji Shehu Usman, alongside the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter-Ethnic Affairs, Prince Hadi Sani.
Speaking during the meeting, Alhaji Usman described Senator Yayi as a detribalised Nigerian and a progressive leader whose strong commitment to the welfare of the people had earned him widespread acceptance across ethnic and political divides.
Prince Hadi Sani said the Arewa Community considered Senator Yayi the best candidate to sustain the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in promoting peaceful coexistence and strengthening inter-ethnic harmony in Ogun State.
He disclosed that the community had concluded plans to brand 10 buses in support of Yayi’s campaign and would commence an extensive door-to-door sensitisation campaign to canvass votes for the senator and other APC candidates across the state.
Senator Yayi, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, has stepped up consultations with political stakeholders, traditional rulers and interest groups as part of efforts to build a broad-based coalition ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
His emergence as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate followed a series of endorsements by party stakeholders from the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, further strengthening his position ahead of the poll.
Members of the delegation included the Sarkin Hausawa of Egbaland, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Hassan; the Sarkin Hausawa of Aworiland, Alhaji Muhammadu Badamasi; the Sarkin Hausawa of Owode Yewa, Alhaji Umar Muhammed Nalado; the Sarkin Hausawa of Sagamu, Alhaji Inuwa Garba; the Sarkin Hausawa of Ilaro, Alhaji Lawan Musa; Chairman of Ogere Market, Alhaji Bura Muhammed; Ogun State Arewa Community Women Leader, Hajiya Sadiya Garzali; and the Youth Leader, Alhaji Yusuf Adam.
