World Ambulance Day: Yewa North Creates Awareness Campaign

  

Ogun State Ambulance and Emergency Services (OGSAES), under the Ogun State Ministry of Health, has intensified public awareness on its free 24-hour emergency medical services, urging residents to avail themselves with the window of opportunities provided by the ambulance service

The advice was given when the public campaign team, led by the Head of Advocacy and Mobilisation, Mr. Banjo Oluwaseun, alongside the Yewa North ambulance crew headed by Nurse Safiyu Muhammed, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, as part of activities marking the World Ambulance Day.

Head of the advocacy and mobilisation, Mr. Banjo, said the campaign was aimed at educating residents on the availability of round-the-clock emergency ambulance services across the State, explaining further that the State government remained committed to ensuring prompt emergency response for residents, particularly, vulnerable groups.

He noted that the free emergency ambulance service covers pregnant women, children under the age of five, road traffic crash victims and other medical emergencies with beneficiaries also entitled to 48 hours of emergency care at designated hospitals.

"The essence of this sensitisation is to ensure that every resident is aware that emergency ambulance services are available 24 hours a day at no cost. We encourage members of the public to make use of the service whenever genuine emergencies arise," he said.

He urged residents to contact the Yewa North ambulance crew through 08100350378, while the state's central emergency toll line is 08112000033 for emergency situations.

Responding, Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, commended the State Ambulance and Emergency Services for taking the awareness campaign to the grassroots.

He described the initiative as a vital component of the State's healthcare delivery system and charged the ambulance personnel to remain dedicated and proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities.

"I appreciate your commitment to saving lives through prompt emergency response. Continue to be active and professional in your duties while complementing the healthcare vision of the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun," he said.

The visit formed part of activities commemorating the World Ambulance Day, aimed at promoting public awareness on the critical role of ambulance services in emergency healthcare delivery and encouraging residents to utilise the life-saving services provided by the Ogun State Government.
