The award makes Wizkid to become the first Nigerian and African to win an Award outside the ‘Best International Acts category’.
This is also Wizkid’s fourth career win at BET Awards.
On the other hand, Tems also made history as the first Nigerian female artiste to win the ‘Best International Act’ category at the 2022 edition of the BET Awards.
The 26-year-old Afrobeats songstress was nominated for Best International Act alongside artists like Dave (U.K.), Dinos (France), Fally Ipupa (Democratic Republic of the Congo), Fireboy Dml (Nigeria) Little Simz (U.K.), Ludmilla (Brazil), Major League Djz (South Africa), Tayc (France).
Tems has become the first Nigerian woman to grab the award which has been won by six Nigerians including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Ice Prince, D’banj, and 2Baba.
Both awards was received by Tems in absence of Wizkid who is currently on tour.
