Bamise Murder: Police Arrest Driver of Lagos BRT Bus (Photo)

 The police on Monday revealed that the driver of the bus, who is a prime suspect in the murder case, had been captured.

A driver alleged to be the prime suspect in the murder of a lady found dead after entering a BRT bus has been arrested.

 

Late Oluwabamise Ayanwole was declared missing after boarding the BRT bus in Lagos.

 

On Monday, the family confirmed her dead after discovering her corpse.

 

Giving update, Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Monday afternoon said the driver of the bus, who is a prime suspect in the murder case, had been captured

“The driver of the BRT has been arrested,” Ajisebutu stated.

Ayanwole disappeared while returning to Ota from Ajah on February 26th when she boarded a BRT bus with number 240257 going to Oshodi at about 7pm at Chevron Bus-Stop.

 

While in the bus, Bamise felt uncomfortable as it did not pick any other passenger at subsequent bus stops. She quickly contacted a friend and expressed her worry.

 

Using whatsapp voice notes, Bamise revealed that the bus driver made an overture at her saying that he ‘liked’ her and asked for her name and other details. She told her friend to pray for her. She also sent a short video to her friend stating that there were 3 men and one woman in the bus.

 

The Police in an official statement on the matter, vowed to capture all those involved in the gruesome murder.

 

“The Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, fdc, mnim, psc, is saddened by this incident and, therefore, expresses, on behalf of the management, officers and men of the command, his heartfelt condolence to the bereaved family.”

“Notwithstanding the death of Oluwabamise, the detectives handling the case would not rest on their oars until her killers are found.”

“We, therefore, assure the concerned public and the bereaved family that we are closing on on the culprits and we are sure that soon the suspects would be arrested and made to face justice for this murderous act.”, the statement read.
