Scholarship: Ogun NANS General Secretary Showers Encomiums On OOU VC



Unable to conceal his feelings over awards of scholarship to his fellow students, the general secretary of the National Association of Nigeria students (NANS), Ogun state chapter, Comr. Samson Adeyemi has commended the Vice chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University for awarding scholarship to indigent students of the institution.

The scholarship scheme was benefited by over 250 students of the institution.

Adeyemi described this development as a "rare and unprecedented gesture" towards the students.

In a release which he personally signed, he showered encomiums and commendations on the VC whom he described as a "father figure"

"It came to us as a surprise having learnt some of our long time demands was met by the Vice chancellor of Olabisi Onabanjo University, our colleagues were overwhelmed with this rare and unprecedented gesture. This is a gesture that encourages more dedication to academics by students."

"We have no doubt in the humanly and fatherly role Prof. Ganiyu Olatunde has been showing towards all students of OOU."

Adeyemi went further to appreciate the projects embarked upon by the VC within the school campuses, projects which include: Construction of New ICT building, Senate Building, purchase of emergency ambulance for satellite campuse, construction of new faculty building in faculties like Social sciences, Agriculture, among others.

He however call on other philanthropists within and outside Ogun state to emulate the gesture in strengthening the education system of the country.

"Education as it is all known is the bedrock of a viable society, sponsoring our best brains and less privileged in schools should be topmost in the agenda of all "big men" withing the society. 

"Every philanthropic gesture should always be geared towards the building of human and material resources within the education sector, we cannot do it all as a student body, Adeyemi concluded.
